Perry almost made the cut, but now leads the second group with an average of 1.8 percent among the latest polls on Real Clear Politics.

“The first thing I will do is tear up that agreement with Iran,” former Texas Gov. They also blasted the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of same sex marriage and Democrats’ defense of Planned Parenthood in the wake of secret videos showing Planned Parenthood officials talking about the harvesting of fetal organs and tissue for research.

“On day one in the Oval Office, I would make two phone calls. He presented himself as not so much an underdog but an outsider, though he spent more than a decade inside the Beltway on Capitol Hill.

All candidates on the Fox News/Facebook stage were united in opposition to the newly struck nuclear deal with Iran, hammering administration policies as they largely avoided tangling with each other.

“The way to distinguish yourself is not be personal, but be the most credible, populist, conservative and anti-establishment (candidate),” conservative strategist and Reagan biographer Craig Shirley said.

The candidates on the Fox News/Facebook stage did not qualify for the later prime-time debate. He might not take my phone call, but he would get the message, and the message is this: Until you open every nuclear and every military facility to full, open, anytime, anywhere, for real inspections, we are going to make it as difficult as possible for you to move money around the global financial system.”

Almost every candidate on stage took a shot at Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner. South Carolina Sen. “This is without a doubt the most fluid Republican presidential nomination probably in the history of the party,” Shirley said.

Seven Republican primary underdogs downplayed their long political odds Thursday in Cleveland and directed their jabs instead at President Obama and Hillary Clinton, each seeking a break-out in the first of two presidential debates.

Former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, who analysts afterwards said provided much of the breakout fire power during the forum, said dealing with the aftermath of the Iran deal would be one of her first priorities as president.

Perry and Fiorina also got in some digs at billionaire Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, questioning his conservative credentials.

Every candidate on stage, analysts said, had an opportunity to distinguish themselves.

“The second will be to the supreme leader of Iran. Absolutely, we need to defund Planned Parenthood.”

Next up is the prime-time debate at 9 p.m. But they did their best to promote their experience, commitment and readiness for the Republican nomination.

“I deployed the National Guard,” Perry said, recalling how he looked President Obama “in the eye” and said, “if you won’t secure the border, Texas will.” Perry said he was the only one on the dais that had the experience to do it.

When asked what words describe the former secretary of state, most of the candidates used the words like “untrustworthy,” “divisive,” and “socialist.” Perry got in the zinger – “good at email” – taking a poke at Clinton’s personal email scandal.

“Since he has changed his mind on amnesty, on health care and on abortion, I would just ask what are the principles by which he will govern?” Fiorina said.

“This is absolutely disgusting,” said Louisiana Gov. She’s not gonna build the Keystone pipeline. I will. Jim Gilmore, rounded out what had been dubbed the “happy hour” debate.

“I came as a reformer, I stood up to the good old boy network of Washington, D.C.,” he said.

. ET, with the 10 top-polling candidates, based on their showing in the last five national polls. Perry also vowed to secure the border if president and touted his own record in that area.

The seven candidates, who also included New York Gov.

All were adamant they would reverse President Obama’s executive orders and policies, including ObamaCare. “She represents a third term of a failed presidency.”

The “second tier” candidate today could be one of the last ones standing tomorrow, as the primary promises to heat up and there is no runaway front-runner.

Perry, who saw his presidential aspirations fizzle in 2012 after his infamous “oops” debate moment, was looking for redemption Thursday. Rick Perry said, taking issue with the money freed up if sanctions were lifted. Bobby Jindal, “and revolts the conscience of the nation. I will,” Graham said. At the outset of the debate, Perry said he is prepared.

Trump, who has dominated the headlines and is leading in the polls, still has less than 25 percent of the vote in most surveys. The first one would be to my good friend, Bibi Netanyahu, to reassure him we will stand with the State of Israel,” she said

“I would say the message that got us the win in Iowa and ten other states is the message that will deliver us,” said former Pennsylvania Sen. George Pataki and former Virginia Gov. Lindsey Graham argued Clinton is too closely tied to the Obama administration’s policies to turn the country around.

Both debates are hosted by Fox News and Facebook in conjunction with the Ohio Republican Party.

“Americans are going to see that I’m ready to be that individual,” he said. “One of the great challenges that we have, $150 billion is fixing to go to a country that that killed our Marines in Lebanon, that used their weapons to kill our young men.”

“She’s not gonna repeal ObamaCare and replace it. Rick Santorum, referring to his 2012 presidential bid showing

He couldn’t get through the tacky ground in the

Lincoln, and we’ve freshened him up since. Although it was disappointing that he got

beaten, I was pleased with the way he went about his job, because last

year he had a tendency to duck away, mainly, I think, because he was

still a big baby. Down the

field at Kempton [yesterday].

Did well for us last year and has thrived over the winter, so much

so that he’s proving hard to get fit. We’ll probably

go back there this season. He’s rated 85 and if we can get him back to his

two-year-old form, he could do well.

My Paris

North Walk

Tom Forest

Pretty new to us. She’ll go to Beverley

this week where the stiff 5f will suit her. Went back

to Wolverhampton on Thursday and won really well. A colt who has a lot of quality, but who won’t be out

until mid-season, is Prince Golan (Golan-Mo-hican Princess), while

unnamed (Johannesburg-Coeur de la Mer) fits a similar mould. The ground could dry up before we

can crack on with him, and he may be seen to most effect in the second

half of the season.

Manouche

Class horse Amadeus Wolf, looks an absolute picture

Bought at Newmarket sales out of Michael Jarvis’s stable. Although he has yet

to race beyond 6f, there’s enough in his pedigree to suggest

he’ll stay 1m in the Guineas, but not enough to guarantee it. More to come, and the

type to progress again from three to four.

King Orchisios

A big, raw horse last year, and still has a fair way to go to fill

his frame, but he’s got ability and a lot of speed. Although he won over 1m at Southwell in early

February, when trained by John Gosden, we ran him over 7f at Lingfield

and, although he may have needed the run, he showed a lot of speed. If he gets beaten in the Guineas and it’s obvious he

didn’t stay, we’ll go back sprinting, but if he wins, or runs

a big race in defeat, we’ll stick to 1m.

4 g Indian Rocket – Sweet Nature 00000-5

He’s going straight to the 2,000 Guineas, and everything is

going to plan. I

think he’ll stay.

We bought him at Newmarket from Michael Jarvis. I’ve thought so since the Middle Park, where

he sat on the girths of the leaders and kicked for home passing the

bushes. He had surgery, which appears to have been a complete

success. He pays his way each year and I expect him to do so again.

Josh

I could hardly leave this fellow out! He’s been a tremendous

servant for several years and always pays his way. Ran

well for us first time at Wolver-hampton, but I didn’t declare him

for the Lincoln because the ground would have been too testing.

He’s a 1m2f horse and should win a nice handicap or two. He wins a couple of races every year, but

trying to predict where and when is the hardest job.

Riverside Dancer (Stravin-sky-Odori) ran with promise at Kempton

[yesterday], and I also like Sebadee (Cape Cross-Phyllode), Sadeek

(Kyllachy-Miss Mercy), and an unnamed colt (Langfuhr-Touch Of Honor),

who is beginning to look the part.

4 g Josr Algarhoud – Charlie Girl 2540-60

Everything he did last year, including his Group 2 success in

France at the backend, was a bonus, because he was still quite weak.

He’s done great physically over the winter and looks much more the

finished article now. We’ll start him over 6f,

but he could end up getting 7f and, rated 82, he looks on a decent mark.

Desert Lord

Nick Smith, head lad Distinctly Game

After elevating himself to the Group 1 stage last year, not to

mention sending out over 80 winners and earning more than pounds 1

million in prize-money, Ryan’s pool of horses now stretches to

three figures. He likes to race on the pace and he

should be up to winning a nice handicap with cut in the ground.

Tough and consistent last year and has done well physically since.

We’ll probably start him off at 6f before stepping him up to 7f and

he might even get 1m before the year is out.

A filly we’ve always held in high regard, giving her a

Cheveley Park entry last year before she’d even run. We’re obviously still finding our way

with him. We’ve gelded him since.

He’s a very nice sort, but he wants cut in the ground and, rated

90, opportunities are scarce for him. Although he’d run well on

soft ground, it was too tacky and dead for him at Redcar, and Neil

[Callan] said he wasn’t happy even cantering down. He’s had, I think, a few niggling problems,

which he seems to be over. She got a

fright in the stalls one day at Haydock, which set her back a bit. He’ll stay a bit further and,

having got his head in front, should pay his way in handicap company.

Ran creditably in defeat at Wolverhampton on Thursday, and we’ll

probably give him a little break before too long.

Guto

f Bertolini – Banningham Blade 1402-

5 g Lake Coniston – Shadow Casting 0050-00

Andrew Mullen, stable apprentice Balthazaar’s Gift

High Curragh

Raymond’s Pride

Landed a nice race last season at Ripon, and also won at

Wolver-hampton. He seems to go on most

types of ground, likes to dictate the pace, and loves Hamilton.

I got a lot of pleasure seeing him win at Doncaster last backend -

on the same day Palace Episode won the Racing Post Trophy – because

he’d been quite sick earlier in the year and, for a little while,

it was touch and go whether he’d come through it. He’s highly rated

in handicaps, but we’ll see what we can do with him here, and also

in Ireland.

We’ve had him about six weeks. He loves the game and gives you 110 per cent every time,

but we discovered, almost by accident, that he doesn’t go for the

whip. In fairness, we found a problem with a knee and a foot and we

halted him early. He was a very good two-year-old

with Sylvester Kirk. Soft ground is important to him and I’d hope

later in the season we could be thinking of the Ayr Gold Cup.

Ran some solid races last year. Not bad for a former journeyman jockey, who, from his

lofty Hambleton base at the top of Sutton Bank in North Yorkshire,

started with only a handful of modest inmates little more than seven

years ago.

6 g Green Desert – Red Carnival 00600-3

Spiritual Peace

Uhoomagoo

We’ve always held him in high regard. It’s going to

be a tough year for him as a three-year-old with a Group 2 penalty,

especially early on, and his main objectives will be in the autumn – the

Haydock Park Sprint Cup and the Prix de l’Abb-eye. He’s not difficult to get ready and we’ll be

cracking on with him shortly in handicap company before it gets firm.

5 g Most Welcome – Kamada 0061-20

Gave my daughter Amy her first win as an amateur rider at

Wolver-hampton in December. He wants fast ground on turf, and I think we’ll

have some fun with him.

Dark horse Roxan, Rock Of Gibraltar juvenile could shine

A frustrating horse last year, he got off the mark at Musselburgh

this month, where we had a fitness advantage over the hot favourite and

used it to advantage over 1m1f. Last season, he won a

valuable handicap at Galway, which was great for one of his owners, John

Duddy, who had always wanted to have a winner there. He’s a real fast-ground

horse, and we made the mistake of running him at York last season when

the ground was against him – but we won’t make that mistake again.

He’ll be aimed at the major sprint handicaps.

Staff selections

1 couldn’t be happier with him, and there’s no doubt in

my mind that he’s improved since last season.

4 g Danehill Dancer – Tayovullin 40500-2

5 g Groom Dancer – Child’s Play 02230-2

ACHIEVEMENT brings reward. A very nice filly is Roxan (Rock Of Gibraltar-Gamra), who

will be out about the middle of next month.

4 c Monashee Mountain – Big Fandango 400060-

Distinctly Game

Ran some solid races last year without winning, but he was highly

rated for what he’d done at two. He could run this week.

Three-year-olds

Kamanda Laugh

c Zilzal – Devastating 522-311

Miss Kool Kat (Exploit-Pristine), fourth at Lingfield first time

out, was doing all her best work late on. They look a nice bunch, but

most haven’t done anything serious yet, so I’ll just list a

few I like. She’s going to

Newmarket this week for a 7f handicap and could be nicely rated off 84.

Had a great time last year, winding up with a cracking run in the

Cambridgeshire. That race took a

bit out of him, but he’s bouncing now and will run in

Saturday’s Newbury Spring Cup.

Byline: Tom O’Ryan

Add to that pairing a host of high-class handicappers, plus some 60

ammunition to take his career to the next level.

8 g Namaqualand – Point Of Law 104000-

A very good juvenile, I had high hopes for him last year, but, like

so many sprinting three-year-olds who do well at two, it was tough for

him. Soft ground was important to him last year, and

it’s likely to continue to be so, though I do feel that as he

becomes more mature, he’ll handle better ground. He should be up to winning a nice

handicap this year.

Westport

5 g Paris House – My Desire

c Tagula – Wildflower

c Danetime – Seven Sisters 0521-21

Amber Valley (Foxhound-Amber Mill) is quite a well forward filly,

and Springtime Parkes (Medican-Summerhill Spruce) is also worth

mentioning. He’s a real sprinter,

an uncomplicated horse who loves to force the pace, and he’d be

only a couple of weeks off a run.

5 g Piccolo – Faraway Lass 0551-00

Ludovico

A maiden before this year, but has won at Southwell and Kemp-ton.

Unfortunately, his turf rating has gone up alongside his all-weather

mark to 88, so he’ll have to find more improvement. He’s had one ‘away-day’ at Southwell and

he’ll have another at Newmarket this week when he’ll work on

the first day of the Craven meeting.

6 g Sandpit – Good Reputation 100-100

. Fontana Amorosa (Cadeaux

Genereux-Bella Lambada) is shaping well and will run at Newmarket this

week.

c Mozart – Rachelle 13211-

He didn’t get going until well into the season last year, but

he progressed well and never ran a bad race. Supreme

Speedster (Superior Premium-Effervescent) looks quite sharp, while Orpen

Prince (Orpen-She’s The Tops) is quite a big horse, and showing

plenty of speed. He easily won his maiden

at Haydock last season, but, after missing Royal Ascot at York because

the ground was too quick for him, he then got a small stress fracture behind, and we gave him the rest of the year off. He ran well the

other day at Pontefract and is pretty capable, but he tends to be

something of a ‘bridle’ horse.

c Cadeaux Genereux – Emerald Peace 320-

Divine Gift

Steve Haworth, head lad Amadeus Wolf

All class, he could be sprinter of the year

A horse who is ordinary when the ground is good or quicker, good

when it becomes soft, and very good when it’s virtually

un-raceable. He did well last season and has continued to do so,

having recently won nicely at Lingfield, where he got to the front a bit

soon – he tends to pull up a bit in front. The ground is important, as he does

need cut. Well held at

Kempton [yesterday].

CAPTION(S):

A different horse with another year on his back

Wigwam Willie

A good horse. We

did a lot of work on her and she finished the season with a great run in

the big sales race at Newmarket, where she came second and

‘won’ the race on her side of the course. He’s a very

talented horse.

4 g Mind Games – It’s Another Gift 535060-

Two-year-olds

Mutamared

A smashing horse, who ran very well for us on his first outing over

5f at Kempton. He looks a million dollars and will have one run before the

Wokingham.

Simply because I can’t fault him

Ran well at Southwell on the second day of the turf season, where

he met traffic problems. We’d hoped to have a longer campaign on

the all-weather through winter, but he wasn’t quite right, so we

backed off him. He hated the

ground and didn’t get home in the Lincoln. He’s got a fair

bit to prove, but everything in his work suggests he’ll go all the

way. He should pay his way again. He’ll stand a couple of flicks, but he’d curl up under

stronger use. He needs a bit

of cut in the ground and his campaign will probably be early and late.

He’s a stronger, more mature horse than last season, easy to

train, clean-winded and with a superb temperament. Won over 6f at

Wolverhampton before running creditably over 5f back on turf. We’ll bring him

back to 7f at Newmarket this week. He’s a horse

with good two-year-old form who had found it hard at three. We’ve given him an entry in the French 2,000 Guineas and

he’ll start off in a conditions race at Newmarket this week.

Gifted Gamble

In Amadeus Wolf, his outstanding flag-bearer of last year, courtesy

of his Gimcrack-Middle Park double, he has an inmate with clear Classic

pretensions, and while Palace Episode, his other Group 1 winner from

last term, is now with Godolphin, he has a potential top-notch sprinter

in Balthazaar’s Gift, a Group 2 winner in France in November.

Bought out of Ireland at Newmarket’s horses-in-training sale,

next time.

the case of Kevin Ryan, his exploits of recent seasons have helped to

substantially increase his horsepower.

Horse Racing Handicapping Factors – Wind and How it Affects Horseracing

Laurie Macomber

Laurie Macomber

This is probably the most important thing to do when considering any type of betting. If you don't have a winning plan or strategy, then you might be on the verge of losing a lot of money. There are many systems out there right now, but make sure to do some extended research before you place an actual bet.
Laurie Macomber

One horse racing factor that is often overlooked is the wind. The horses ran into that wind as they rounded the turn and the second fraction of the race, the second quarter was noticeably slower. I recently visited a harness track where the wind was blowing up the backstretch at about 30 m.p.h.. If you know that when it blows down the backstretch it slows front runners, make a note of it and use it in your horse racing handicapping.

To answer that question I will refer you to an old saying about the weight that horses carry. “Enough weight will stop and elephant.” When you consider the fact that horse races are sometimes decided by as little as a nose or fraction of a second, then anything that can slow a horse down, even a little bit, is important.

In harness horse racing, horses that have cover (follow closely behind another horse) have an easier trip and save energy, thereby being able to run faster in the later stages of the race. But even thoroughbreds fare better when they are given a break by having another horse to draft along behind until the final leg of the race.

The way to apply that to your handicapping is to be aware of how the wind effects the aces at your local track and to be aware of the wind when it is blowing. There are days when the wind blows very hard and does have an effect on the outcome of the races and it is one more way you can beat the crowd to the windows to cash your share of winners.

Because horse races are run outdoors, the natural elements play an important role in horseracing results. When they rounded the second turn, the wind was at their backs and they sped up again. Horses are large and powerful and therefore, many people wonder how something like wind pressure can effect their performance.

A horse is a large animal and therefore presents enough area to encounter significant wind resistance. It was very obvious that the wind was changing the character and pace of the race.. Savvy handicappers will note horses that raced without cover and bet them if they think they will have cover in their next trip

I had more points accumulated than the wife so I got more entries. I think that a “team of two” was playing because either that initial person or another fellow that I recognized was playing every time I went by. We probably won’t get back up there this year and hope they don’t change Sacys menu too much before we do.

Additionally, there was a once a month activity in the Conference Center that I like to at least stick my head into. We listened for a bit but were too timid to get on the dance floor.

Coming Home and some comments

After a leisurely breakfast we packed up our stuff and got on the road about 10. Pleasant and were home by 3.

The Casino

Although it wasn’t quite this crowded when we were there, lots of people were around. I usually mix my play between video poker and some blackjack, but this time I was content with the video poker. The machine that caught my eye, however, and I sat there immediately was a Quick Quad machine. It was a polka band – Richie Yurkovich and Polkarioty – that attracts an enthusiastic older crowd. They appeared from 1 to 5. They have a bar that has 25 cent full pay jacks or better and the wife spent most of her gambling time there. I’d image that by 5 PM, there were some very happy people because beer was flowing at $5 a pitcher. Perhaps next time. As normal we didn’t do very well, but I was lucky at one session and wound up in 7th place which was good for $25 free play which I put to good use at video poker.

I had intended to go to some museums in Sault Ste Marie but video poker kept calling me at the times I wanted to go so didn’t make them. I checked it over a period of about 12 hours and one or the other of them was there all the time.

Video poker was about what should be expected since I didn’t get a royal and I wound up putting about $4,000 through the machines and lost $45. My best (and most fun) hand came when it dealt me three 6′s, a five, and an ace for a dealt Quick Quads. Most of the attractions that I wanted to see were closed for the winter months (they open up later this month). Had lunch at Soaring Eagle while going through Mt. Someone had begun playing. (I got the picture from a video I took and the video play controls are at the bottom of the picture – sorry.). The wife, as usual, did better than I and was at or near even. Ran into some rain after crossing the bridge but it quit pretty quickly.

They had a Player’s Club sponsored slot tournament on Wednesday that we played in. I played for several hours on Tuesday. Hm-m-m, maybe I’ll get back again this summer.

I headed for that machine Wednesday morning but got there too late. There is a bank of 7 nickel video poker machines with lower payoffs that hover around 97 or 98 percent and we both spent some time there

There are many systems out there right now, but make sure to do some extended research before you place an actual bet.

Many

consider the weight that a horse is carrying to be one of

the critical factors in handicapping races. Claiming is one way in which competition

between horses can be equalized. In a claiming race, each horse is entered at a

specific price, and may be purchased, or “claimed” by

another owner. Older, stronger

horses are typically allowed to carry more weight than

younger horses, and these differences are one of the many

factors savvy handicappers take into account when choosing

their winners.

Horse Races come in several types, namely, stakes,

handicap, allowance, claiming or maiden races. In

fact, it is unlikely that track officials would even allow

such discrepancies to take place.

Allowance races are essentially non-claiming races, usually

designed for horses which race infrequently.

His website http://www.5minuteracingsystem.com helps

people handicap horse races effectively. Each one of

these have important differences in terms of the types of

horses entered into the race, as well as how horse owners

and trainers will decide to run their horse in the race.

Lastly, Maiden races are for those horses who have never

won. However, careful handicappers will spot maiden

races which have a horse or two which has some history of

winning relative to others in the race.

. This is part of the reason why

professional handicappers tend to stick to a limited number

of tracks for their wagering. If your a horse

When one is placing a bet on a horse, the better is

actually betting on the skills of the horse, the jockey,

Claiming races are far and away the most common type of

race. Other conditions may be applied to maiden races as

well, such as “Non winners in last 3 races.” Maiden races

are sometimes difficult to handicap because the entire

field may consist of horses with minimal past performance

histories. For example, an excellent

horse which is valued at $20,000 will not run in a claiming

race where the claiming price is $5,000 or less.

Conversely, a horse with a low value (e.g., due to poor

past performance) is unlikely to run in a race with a high

claiming price, simply because it will be outclassed. As they bet at particular

tracks, they become increasingly familiar with the trainers

and jockeys who work at that track, and this knowledge is

taken into account as they pick their winners.

Stakes races are those which occur annually, offer very

large purses, and attract very high quality horses.

Examples of stakes races include the Belmont Stakes and the

Kentucky Derby.

Handicap races are such that the weights of the various

jockeys are equalized through the use of lead weights. In the hands of skilled trainers and

jockeys, horses with poor past performances can have their

careers rejuvenated, oftentimes by making changes such as

race distances, conditioning regimens, and so forth.

Similarly, jockeys with excellent records can improve the

potential of even the most mediocre of horses, under the

right conditions
